Follow the Leader Aran Knit Along
I tried to stop myself but in the end gave in. I joined the Follow the Leader Aran Knit Along (aka FLAK) to learn how to make a custom-sized, top down, aran sweater. Janet Szabo of Big Sky Knitting (www.bigskyknitting.com) is leading the group and has done an excellent job explaining the concepts of measuring, swatching and getting started. Every week or two she posts the next installment of instructions for the group of eager participants. I selected Cascade 220 (100% wool) yarn in the colorway "Blue Hawaii" for the project and after swatching, settled on US#5 Addi Turbos. I've completed the shoulder saddles and the back down to the armholes and am now ready to plan my front neckline. Here's a partial scan of my progress to date:
